Rwd, loaded, matching canopy, stupid low miles, 3.4 with an auto... This would solve many of my wants and needs (and the wife will like the auto part; I won’t care because 3.4). I suspect this will be sold by the morning.

It could just be the picture, but it looks like the bed & cap are a shade darker than the cab. I suspect an accident.

I dig it.

If it’s anything like my 89 or my 80, the paint just fades that way because reasons.

I think the cap is yet a different shade between the cab and the bed. That doesn’t bother me though, as the cap is likely fiberglass and was likely painted separately.
The bed, on the other hand...

TIL
HiLux came with a column mounted auto shifter - never had that feature here.

Yes, and I wish my work Taco had one instead this damned center mounted one. I have an auto and a full bench, so I have a center seatbelt, but no human can possible squeeze in there! Not even my 7 year niece could fit half a foot down there.

I dream of a day when we get a 2wd 4-door version of this truck, and not the lifted TRD version, this version with minimal ground clearance and normal car sized tires.

Column shifters FTW!

Yes, I don’t dig the quad cab PreRunners. All the height and price tag of a 4WD for minimal (if any) gains. That said, the 2WD of the first gen Tacomas are shockingly low, and feel very small. I drove a base cab for about a year and it was kind of hilarious.

If not proper stick, then sideways clunky stick. Put THAT an a bumper sticker! (and then promptly go out of business)

‘89 2wd “Xtra Cab”. Was a 22-R, now a 22-RET, with a LSD and 29s. More than enough for camping and outdoors trips, DIY homeowner crap, family of 3, etc. Every time I think it’s time to look at new trucks, or an allroad wagon, or Rapide, or Panamera 4 door-hatch-wagon-shootingbrake, or whatever, I add up the purchase price, the registration, insurance, and more. Then I double my money by folding it in half and putting it back in my pocket and keep driving my paid-off truck.

I had an ‘89 bare bones base cab 5-speed for four years. My first Toyota. Had over 300k miles when I sold it.

Yeah, even my 05 avalon is doing that right, now. Everything but the bumper is the same, #toyotathings
